Moshe Kupferman

Moshe Kupferman (1926–2003) was a seminal Israeli painter whose abstract works reflect deep emotional and historical resonance. A Holocaust survivor and co-founder of Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta’ot, Kupferman’s art was shaped by trauma, resilience, and the process of construction and erasure. His layered compositions—marked by repetition, grids, and subtle gestures—earned him the Israel Prize for Painting in 2000.

Sissman Gallery is honored to have exhibited Kupferman’s works, recognizing his enduring impact on Israeli art and his profound exploration of memory through form.
