Christo and Jeanne-Claude were born in 1935. Christo studied Fine Arts at the academy in Sofia from 1952 to 1956. He moved to Paris in the late 1950's where he began creating wrapped, packaged objects. The artists have become known for "wrapping" famous buildings and geographical landmarks with plastic and woven-fabric sheets.
The duo environmental installation artists works include the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin and the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, the 24-mile-long curtain called Running Fence in Marin and Sonoma counties in California, and most recently The Gates in New York City's Central Park.
