Nubani Ibrahim was born in Acre, Israel in 1961 and grew up in a nearby village, Maker where he lives today. Nubani displayed artistic tendencies from an early age. In 1984, he graduated from the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. In 1986 he represented Israel at Venice Biennale. His Geometric abstract works display two distinct elements, formal composition, attributed to the Western tradition, and a color sensibility associated with the Orient. Nubani paintings reference often the intercultural dynamic between the Israeli and Palestinian identities. |
